Eisenstein's use of montage is my favorite thing in silent cinema, but to be honest I needed a pop up video for this one to explain the historical context. This felt similar to "Strike" in its obfuscation of a clear narrative, although I imagine things would make more sense if I were more familiar with the events of the revolution. That doesn't negate the impact of the visuals or of the effect of its techniques--just a personal reaction of wishing I had a read a book beforehand.
