Wow. This was better than the entire season 2 of Altered Carbon, although you might need to be a fan of Japanese Yakuza films to really appreciate it.

Although the bar was extremely low, this is way better than the abysmal second season, that Mackie completely ruined. Beautiful animation, too.

Standalone anime entry into the Altered Carbon universe — surprisingly faithful to the source material's noir DNA. Fluid action choreography, atmospheric world-building, and a tight runtime that wastes nothing. Look and feel: stylized and confident. Better than expected.

Unwatachable first episode deleted, I won't be further bothered life too short.

I totally agree that while this anime is pretty basic, it's still better than season two of the live action, though no fault of Mackie's, the writing and direction were horrendous.
