I was excited for this one due to the gorgeous costumes/set design and diversity, but it's also much more than that! The musical numbers were delightful, especially combined with the costuming. The premise of magic and wonder stands out to me here, because rather than the traditional fantasy that you'd expect it's the beauty of _math_ and engineering (and with a female main character at that). It was really interesting to see, because math is often depicted as "stuffy" and definitely not creative even if advanced math _does_ need a lot of imagination. Truly made me wish I didn't let go of math when I was younger. You can really tell a lot of love and effort was put into this movie!
Netflix didn't disappoint again, another nonsense they filmed as always. I haven't seen anything good from Netflix yet. The only thing that was positive about this film was how it was shot. the rest about nothing and I think 4 points are a lot, but for trying to close both eyes, he probably deserves 4/10. Even if 2 hours of watching such nonsense so I would be bored to death!!!
There's a nice message at the heart of this movie, but its sometimes lost thanks to the abundance of musical numbers and overall tweeness. Not a Christmas classic then, at least for me. Perhaps my heart is just too hard to thaw.
[Netflix] Lazy Christmas production that has a colorful staging but fails to be anything that it pretends to be. Family film, animated film, musical... The screenplay wants to cover a lot and does not focus on anything. As a musical, the songs are mediocre (only John Debney's brilliant score stands out). Less magical and entertaining than it wants to be. To make matters worse, Buddy 3000 is shamelessly Wall·E.
Great idea, but poor execution. The songs were way too much and none of them was memorable. I really like the costumes and the animation effects, but overall this is a very weak movie.
