Franz, genannt Fox, ist ein arbeitsloser Schausteller, der sich durch einen Lottogewinn in die höheren Kreise einkauft. Er verliebt sich in den Unternehmerssohn Eugen, mit dem er prompt zusammenzieht. Doch Franz kann seine proletarische Herkunft weder verleugnen noch verbergen. Er wird von der besseren Gesellschaft nicht akzeptiert. Stattdessen nutzt man seine Naivität aus, bis die unausweichliche Katastrophe eintritt.

Interesting queer movie for its time, although the plot line itself is sort of trite and obvious. Fox is a pitiable character despite my general dislike of Fassbinder as an actor, and I enjoyed seeing the rest of the cast do their thing.

Fox makes a comment in the beginning about not being used [spoiler]for his money and then he goes ahead and allows it.[/spoiler] Frustrating to say the least. But an interesting Queer movie for its time.
