Am Nordpol ist nicht alles in Ordnung. Ein Ölkonzern riskiert, Weihnachten für immer zu beenden, indem er in der Arktis Dynamit einsetzt, um Bohrstellen zu finden. Der Weihnachtsmann stellt seine Elfen zusammen, um den Geschäftsführer Michael Baldwin anzusprechen; seine umweltbewusste Frau Claudia; und natürlich ihre geschenkliebenden Kinder. Ein Ausflug in die Werkstatt des Weihnachtsmanns, begleitet von dem Bärtigen persönlich, wäre vielleicht nötig, um den Tag zu retten.

An under-rated made for TV Christmas Classic. Art Carney (The Honey Mooners) makes a great some-what grumpy Santa. Who can’t stand Jingle Bells.

The Night They Saved Christmas is a whimsical and enchanting family film that’s full of Christmas spirit. When Santa’s workshop is in danger of being destroyed by an oil company dynamiting in the Arctic, Santa tries to convince the site director to stop the drilling by giving his family a tour of his workshops at North Pole City. Jaclyn Smith and Art Carney lead the cast and deliver excellent performances. The story is well-written, with interesting characters and an intriguing Santa Claus mythology. Additionally, the set designs are quite elaborate and imaginative. Heartwarming and magical, The Night They Saved Christmas is a fun holiday adventure.
