A VERY GOOD MOVIE TO WATCH

The first “Alligator” film was a solid animal horror movie with mostly competent actors and decent effects. The sequel, on the other hand, has nothing to do with its predecessor, and you hardly get to see the eponymous alligator at all (and when you do see it, you notice that it’s just a perfectly normal, not particularly large animal). The film is therefore completely superfluous. It's also not fun at all but rather boring as hell. My recommendation would be to watch the first film and give the second one a wide berth.

It's just a regular alligator...

Nowhere near as interesting as Alligator. The story has a lot of elements from the original, but none of the humour or heart. The creature effects have even taken a step down. I have no idea what they were going for... Remake or sequel. And why someone thought that making a "sequel", well over a decade later, was a good idea is beyond me... It's not that Alligator 2 is bad per se, just that it's a lot worse than the first one.
