Die Dinge sind nicht immer so, wie sie zu sein scheinen - vor allem nicht in dem kleinen Vorort, in dem die Familie Carpenter lebt. Susan arbeitet als Kellnerin in einem Diner, um als alleinerziehende Mutter ihre beiden Söhne versorgen zu können – den achtjährigen Peter, der die meiste Zeit mit seinen Spielsachen verbringt und den drei Jahre älteren, hochbegabten Henry. Henry hält das Gefüge zusammen und schafft es, auf seine eigene ganz besondere Art und Weise, für alles und jeden im Haushalt zu sorgen. Als Beschützer seines liebenswürdigen kleinen Bruders und unermüdlicher Unterstützer seiner oftmals überforderten Mutter, bewältigt er den Alltag seiner Familie quasi im Alleingang. Vermeintlich friedlich wirkt das Haus nebenan – hier lebt Henrys Schulkameradin Christina , zusammen mit ihrem Stiefvater Glenn. Als Henry Näheres über die Geschehnisse im Nachbarhaus erfährt, erstellt er einen ausgetüftelten Rettungsplan.

I'm a parent so I had an emotional connection since the trailer dropped... The bad reviews are from children expecting a flick with "splosions" and "boobies" lol

I think it's a good movie, a bit out of real life but with a **great message** for children and something sentimental, I can not deny that I get a couple of tears.

Did you guys seen another movie? this was fantastic and very emotional. Henry was great and the whole premise and how it unfolded the story was superb.I don't understand the bad reviews. This is a must see for anyone with feelings.

Haha this movie is so unexpectedly bad, you think it's one kind of movie then it just does a hard 180 into insanity. I wish I didn't have the twist spoiled because I would of loved to have seen this unfold and had the big WTF moment.

wow this film was something... right in the emotions at times... sound cast... a deep message that makes you think more about the lack of interest in this world and whats happening right now in front of us all...
