Im Leben von Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens) sind nur zwei Dinge wirklich von Bedeutung: Seine Freunde und seine Arbeit. Seinen Job als Koch im 50er-Jahre-Imbiss Dan’s Diner geht er mit absoluter Hingabe nach, weshalb es auch nicht verwunderlich ist, dass er noch nie in seinem Leben wirklich Urlaub genommen hat. Doch eines Tages kommt ein Fremder (Joe Manganiello) auf seinem coolen Motorrad durch die Stadt. Schnell werden er und Pee-wee Freunde, woraufhin der Fremde ihm rät, seine Routine endlich zu durchbrechen und ein wenig zu leben. Damit sie sich bald wiedersehen können, muss Pee-wee sein vertrautes Nest endlich mal verlassen und das geht natürlich nicht ohne Probleme. Da sind Bankräuber, die sein Auto als Fluchtauto und ihn als Geisel nehmen, nur der Anfang seines irren Abenteuers quer durch die Staaten.

Pee Wee makes friends with actor Joe Manganie (True Blood) and is invited to his Birthday party in NYC. Which leads him on an adventure away from home for the first time "which ignores that he was out of town in Pee Wee's Big Adventure." Where he meets many other oddballs on the way of course. Pee Wee's friendship with Manganie is where the charm is and most of the laughs. The movie isn't Oscar worthy of course but it is a more watchable made for Netflix flick than Ridiculous 6 at least. My 12 yr old niece loved it. She said every movie should be like it lol.

This is a retconned Pee-wee where it seems he never had the grand adventures where he looked for his bike or joined the circus. Follows many beats of the original film with some degree of success.

One of the very few times Netflix got it right when resurrecting an existing IP. But mainly because Big Top Pee-wee was so awful that there was really no where to go but up. So although the bar was set low, this genuinely really good third outing cleared that hurdle with ease.

It was entertaining to see him on the big screen again. I really enjoyed this! Would like to see another one soon!
