Plotless, meandering, but surprisingly engrossing. This was a more modern take on the neorealism of the 50s that focused on a group of peasants making life work on a big estate. I think my interest mostly focused on the procedural, watching these characters eke out an existence. But there were moments of some lovely character work, and by the end of the whole thing I felt connected to the characters. Surprisingly effective.
