Bogart plays a really interesting and flawed character in this one, against his usual type. I had mixed feelings about Bogart's character since I didn't want him to do the things that he did, I wanted him to be good. But I think this conflict was in line with the theme that gold fever does bad things to men and helped the film. A really strong cast and great story no wonder the film is generally rated so highly.

Love this movie throughout. The dusty streets of Tampico, the boy selling lottery tickets, Walter Huston's beautiful hardscrabble performance, the interloper, the banditos, etc. It all works.

An interesting story about greed and paranoia. Humphrey Bogart is really good in this, playing a flawed character. I also enjoyed Walter Huston's performance a lot too. It is a little long.
