Handlung
In dem kleinen verschlafenen Städtchen Maiden Woods kommt es so gut wie nie zu außergewöhnlichen Vorkommnissen. Dem Sheriff Paul Shields und seinem neuen, kürzlich aus New York eingetroffenen Stellvertreter Donny Saunders ist das auch nur allzu recht, denn die Beiden haben derzeit mit anderen Sorgen zu kämpfen: Shields wird von Schuldgefühlen und Geistern seiner Vergangenheit geplagt, während Saunders versucht über den Tod seines Partners hinwegzukommen. Als jedoch ein Farmer eins seiner Pferde vermisst, werden die Ordnungshüter um Hilfe gebeten. Schon bald machen sie eine Entdeckung, die ihnen Rätsel aufgibt: Der ganze Ort ist mit Hufspuren übersäht, die zwar zu einem Pferd passen, aber aufgrund des Abstands von einem Wesen auf zwei Beinen hinterlassen worden sein müssen... Ob an den gruseligen Geschichten über die Wälder von Maiden Woods und einem unheimlichen Geschöpf, das dort sein Unwesen treiben soll, etwas dran ist?

Probably one of the best Horrors you'll see in 2015. That ending though...

Mostly uninteresting. Terrible blue tint over all the outdoor camera shots, I guess to make it look cold outside? Boring movie. Not really worth the time. Story has potential though it’s been done plenty of times before, this was executed pretty poorly.

Really disappointing, especially since I expected better with Kevin Durand as the lead role. In fairness half the film isn’t too bad, as it builds up the suspense and they eventually realise what they are up against. Then the ending is such a let down, it makes no sense. Considering what happens to others in a blink of an eye earlier in the film and then they barely do anything with hardly any firepower. And the last minute is just ridiculous. Also, they show a reasonably large town, bar, cafe with lots of people. But, when the gather everyone together there’s about 20 people?? It had potential, but they certainly didn’t deliver. It’s not awful, but don’t rush to watch it. Oh and on Amazon is called Monster Hunter, not Dark was the Night?
