This was… surprisingly calming? For a vampire movie, I didn’t expect to feel this relaxed. The whole thing has this dreamy vibe to it, with gorgeous locations, theatrical sets, and colors that make every frame look like some kind of painting. Even though it’s technically set in a more “modern” world, it felt like a completely different era – like time itself doesn’t really matter here. Visually, it’s stunning: the cinematography, the framing, the atmosphere. The music also does a lot – that psychedelic rock score fits the film so well and really sets the mood. And of course, beautiful women everywhere (and yeah, plenty of boobies 😅). But if I’m honest, that’s where the highlights end. Acting-wise it’s pretty weak, and the story barely holds things together. It often feels more like an excuse to drift from one strange scene to the next. Not necessarily bad, but not really gripping either. Still, I didn’t mind. It’s more about sinking into the images and letting the dreamy energy take over than following a plot. And for that, it worked really well. A weird little vampire trip that left me oddly relaxed instead of scared. I’m actually excited to check out more of Rollin’s vampire films – I get the feeling they all carry this kind of strange magic to them.
