I had forgotten just how good this one was. Greengrass maintains the frenetic pace of the last film and even steps it up a notch, finding creative ways to keep us entertained. Perhaps the story arc could have had a more interesting conclusion, but as a new spin on the pure-bred spy thriller the Bourne series (or at least the first three) stands as one of the greats. http://benoliver999.com/film/2016/08/16/thebourneultimatum/
These films could have way more potential if the camera work wasn’t done by 4 year old on a caffeine rush.
This movie has got to be my favorite out of the three. I really enjoyed how well they've blended the first two films with the 3rd one. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the fact it took Bourne just over half the movie to get to New York. Everything else was just perfect.
A very good action movie that never lets up during its nearly two hour running time. The "shaky cam" that gives the Bourne films their gritty look is almost too much due to the constant quick cuts/edits. Everything is moving so fast that its hard to get focused on what is going on. It does add considerable tension to the movie though. Matt Damon really does a nice job of portraying a man on a mission. And Joan Allen plays a welcome friend to Bourne as Agent Landy.
I saw a movie very similar to this recently called _The Bourne Supremacy_. Even though they are practically the exact same movie, this installment is still quite enjoyable. I literally think they just took the old script, used some white out on the locations and assassin names and went to work making _Ultimatum_. I did like the interlacing of the closing scenes of _Supremacy_ with this movie and the travelling back to see the other end of the events that preceded Bourne starting to piece together his mysterious past.
