One of the better Jackie Chan outings from the early 90s. More gritty and no trademark Jackie Chan humour, makes it a different experience than the usual Jackie Chan affair, but just as satisfying. Good stunts and excellently choreographed fights make it a thrill to watch. The story is actually rather good, and the acting is better than usual. Stick to the original language, as the dub is not very good. If you can't stand the humour of most of the Jackie Chan films...this is the ...well...Jackie Chan movie for you.
A Jackie Chan classic. For fans of the man, a must-see
First time I've seen Jackie Chan in a non-Western film. Conclusion? Need to watch more of those! 'Crime Story' is an entertaining 107 or so minutes, as I had a feeling it would be in truth - Chan is usually a fun watch, after all. Admittedly, this 1993 release is more drama than comedy, which is obviously fitting given it's based upon a real life incident. The fight/stunt scenes are naturally the film's major selling point, but I also enjoyed those onscreen and the score - which comes strong at the end and across the subsequent credits. Chan is good value throughout, though I also rate Kent Cheng's performance in this too - he suited his character well. Lastly, a little tid-bit about this flick that I found interesting: Some of the climax was shot at the (then deserted, obvs) Kowloon Walled City, prior to its demolition.
HK police do be sending 10 men to do 1 job
One of Chan's most serious and gritty movies. He impresses and prices that he can do more than just punch, kick and flip his way through a narrative. It being a true story gives it extra weight.
