The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle is a noble but ultimately uneven attempt to translate Saturday-morning nostalgia into a big-budget spectacle. I love how game the cast is here, with Robert De Niro and Rene Russo clearly having a blast leaning into the campy villainy of Fearless Leader and Natasha. However, despite the high energy, the humor feels forced and it’s overall too corny to maintain its momentum. It’s not that they didn't understand the source material, it's more that the material doesn't lend itself well to a live-action film, as the whimsical, flat aesthetic of the original cartoon loses its charm when grounded in a three-dimensional world.

The first ten minutes of this is quite good.
