This was a great documentary. I was also very happy to see that the Captain was convicted. I've never heard of a Captain evacuating when so many passengers were still onboard and in trouble. He may not hold 100% of the blame for the crash but leaving the ship while people are fighting for their lives is inexcusable.
Any captain that casually break rules and is spending too much time trying to find out what happened instead of making decisive actions within 15mins of impact, should be massive red flags! Sorry but I put the blame completely on the captain, everyone listens to his authority and advice and were already questioning his decisions yet they were forced to follow suit due to their hierarchical nature of job. He should have taken full responsibility, not mess about with a ship and risk assess before doing anything cos that’s what he’s paid to do. He sucked at the job, the hotel manager had better initiative than him. And the captain without remorse admitting he made a mistake upon impact and yet chicken out and bail first thing is cowardly and unheard of, he is an insult to actual captains Also anyone who thinks it’s an overdramatisation just cos it’s near the shore really doesn’t understand how bad this all is, “near the shore” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there — All 32 deaths were drowning, not impact — people jumping into freezing January water in the dark because the captain left ~300 of them on board and took over an hour to even call abandon ship — it’s not Titanic but it’s about 4,200 people evacuating over six hours (legally it’s meant to take 30 minutes) off a ship that was still capsizing under them. Proximity to land doesn’t help much if you can’t swim and nobody’s telling you to get off, if it was everyone would be diving into the water
Documentário muito bem contado. Que drama essas famílias viveram.
Bel documentario, che fa venire ancora il nervoso
Ótimo documentário. E triste com o ocorrido e as vidas perdidas. 😱😱😱😱
