So I grew up with this movie so I might be a little biased But this is one of my all-time favorite animated movies in general I really enjoyed Batman beyond maybe even a little bit more than Batman the animated series The edginess of Terry with his constant clashing with Bruce's mentality and ideology are some of the best moments of the show this movie takes that to a whole new level when the joker reappears after several years of being presumed dead there's a real fear in Bruce when he realizes the joker's back Bruce tries his best bench Terry saying that he's never gone up against the enemy like this Batman beyond is essentially Terry McGinnis going through Batman academy this movie is Terry's graduating exam as much as this movie is a perfect example of Terry's character development it is also a great look at a more vulnerable scarred side of Bruce we get some nice flashbacks and information that really bridges the moments in between Batman The animated series and Batman beyond
>"Ah, the new boy. Ears are too long and I miss the cape. But not too shabby. Not too shabby at all." What I like about the older animated Batman films is that they have this darker feel to them. It is a cartoon, but they touch on some dark elements and I was surprised by how much I liked this. That Beyond suit is so aesthetically pleasing to look at.
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is a dark, gritty, unsettling and sad at times animated movie that show's the reality on life. I remember when I was very young at the time when I sawed Robin being tortured into being like the Joker and that right there scared me for life. I remember watching that scene thinking to myself "Jesus, I can't believe they did that to Robin". But when I watch it today, it's still messed up and it's also sad at the time and the animator's behind this took a brave risk by this as they didn't shy away from being deep and dark. And that's why I loved Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. I'm not going to say anymore as I feel it will give a way big plot details.
