Once again, the greatest weakness in MMA showed itself to be the fatal flaw that it is for so many fighters. I was really rooting for Joe Stevenson vs Diego Sanchez but Stevenson - like so many others like him -was overconfident and full of EGO...that huge, gaping chink in the armor of so many could've-been-should've-been-great MMA fighters. He goes into the fight against Diego, thinking all it takes is one punch...and maybe he's right; the problem is landing that "one punch" and Diego never gave him a chance, proving to be too elusive, too quick, and too counter-effective in his own striking. I didn't want to see it but Diego was 100% correct in his pre-fight assessment of Joe Stevenson: _"He's never evolved..."_ and this proved to be the case as Stevenson never did anything other than try to walk Sanchez down, hoping for one big knockout punch (or guillotine choke). Diego easily outboxed Joe and came away with a unanimous decision for the win. Let's hope Stevenson goes back and tries to improve his game...but I'm not real hopeful. He's still too sure that he can land "one big punch" and take out any opponent, and until he learns to improve his MMA game, he's destined to keep getting bested.
The rest of the card turned out to be a decent show and I would call this one worth watching. Some shocking conclusions (and not all in a "good" way) on this card.
