I've liked her stuff for awhile. Nice to see a full length special on a platform like NF. She's got a cool vibe about her that goes from chill stoner pal to Adam Sandler's sidekick in training. Worked for me for the most part. 7.0
I haven't written about her on any other platforms so I guess I'll just leave this here. I started getting into her material a few years back. She reminded me of Maria Bamford with the whole mental health schtick and all of the funny voices. That, and she's extremely close to my age, I'm pretty sure we're both '91 babies. Generational commiseration matters more than I like to admit as I hit my mid-30's. I sort of became obsessed with her because of how she handled her gender and her views on society, always exasperated about how she was *actually* straight despite her presentation and how shitty liberals are. I used to say that she was like a dudebro with a woman's body and heterosexuality. Since then Jensen has become somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me. I've come to find her politics to be pretty inscrutable which some would argue comes with the standup territory, especially for women. Finding out that her disdain for small L liberals comes from the right and not the left was disheartening. She's claimed that she's "spiritually Republican" which doesn't surprise me but it does turn me off ever recommending her to friends or admitting that I find her really funny. In truth she's probably just a small l liberal but that inevitably also shits me off. The controversy surrounding her has only increased as she's blurted out more and more problematic things on stage and while podcasting. Most recently on Stavvy's World she was caught out just blatantly saying transphobic slurs while claiming ignorance, with Stavvy himself repeatedly having to correct her. Jordan, it's 2025 and you're in the entertainment industry, there is no way you don't know what the slurs for trans people are. It's not the first time she's been in hot water over statements like this, and from my many hours of Jensen content consumption I've deduced that she's sort of post-cancellation, in the sense that she's been viral online for years now and has probably developed mechanisms to insulate herself from the public vitriol. Jensen's a new homeowner in upstate New York while renting an apartment in Brooklyn, she's got what she needs for life whatever the left (or the right) think about her. All that being said, I still find her hilarious. As I laugh at her many different character voices and facial contortions, the charity I give her goes as far as, "She still has a lot of stuff to work out" and "I think she's gonna end up coming to the same political conclusions I have". But even here on this Netflix special, she brings up Hamas in a derogatory tone, lumping them in stereotypically with ISIS. In no way does she have to condone Hamas but to bring them up while the IDF is murdering children (and not mentioning that fact) is pretty yucky. I'm rooting for her to reflect on her success especially in the wake of this Netflix special, and not succumb to the right-wing grift (absolutely a possibility). A weak 7 out of 10, jordanlolstop - written 10th September 2025
if you like Jordan Jensen IRL, you'll like this 60 min NF special. it's very on brand with her normal comedy.
