A boring, evil doll horror comedy that never figures out what it wants to be and drags itself out way too long trying to find out. This one isn't outright terrible, but I'm not playing around when I say it is BORING. Genuinely one of the biggest issues here. The pacing is glacial, nothing really happens until about an hour in, and by then I'd already checked out. When your plot is this predictable, the journey there needs to at least be fun or tense, and this one just isn't. It just coasts on cliche without doing anything interesting with it. The direction feels shaky throughout, and it doesn't help that the film can't settle on a tone. It juggles horror, dark comedy, and some kind of personal drama about an artist chasing fame, but none of it translates into anything cinematically engaging. The comedy is basically nonexistent and whatever suspense the evil ventriloquist dummy premise should be building just never materializes. Kristoffer Polaha directs and stars, and honestly doesn't bring enough charisma to carry the lead role, especially considering how much of the film rests on his shoulders. There's a little bit of ambition here, some clear love for filmmaking peeking through, but it's not enough to save a film this dry and uneventful. A frustrating, sluggish watch that never earns its runtime.
