Made me think of *The Blackening* but it doesn't have nearly as much subtext and satire gold. I wasn't too sure at the start because the relationship at the center can be unnatural and awkward and there isn't much chemistry between the two leads but once the parents arrived I couldn't stop laughing at least. The four parents + Parker Posey absolutely steal the show, good jokes and neat comedic timing from all five of them. Parker Posey is perfect for a cooky role like this and I couldn't get enough of her and her wigs. Let's just say Brian Cox decides to own the pronunciation of his family name in this one, he looked like he was having so much fun. Liddy and Cliff are an exact replica of my mother and stepfather, what a funny couple. The horror takes a backseat for most of it but there's a few spooky moments here and there and the third act is pretty horror centered. They did alright with the makeup and practical effects sequences but the CGI is questionable. Perfect final line in the mid-credit scene.

Casting TV legends was the only way this was going to be funny. Logan Roy, Carmela Soprano, Phoebe Buffay, Hank Schrader, Victoria Ratliff, and Justin Foley. Different levels of iconic and different types of humour. Brian Cox had the best role between them and he had to have been possessed to take it. I like the family dynamics and simple yet effective details that make this feel original. Keep in mind this is a spoof, one of my all-time favourite genres. The horror is fairly unpredictable but ultimately a joke. If it didn't play like a TV movie with a confusing pace and cheesy writing this would have made its mark. At least it's got a decent soundtrack.

Fun movie, loved the vibe need more like this

Very silly horror spoof. The cast carries a ridiculous script with Brian Cox, Dean Norris and Parker Posey being my personal standouts. The relationship between the two leads felt pretty forced and I didn't really get a sense of chemistry between them. [spoiler]It was tough to believe they would really get engaged by the end of this.[/spoiler] Also, them being a gay couple barely played into the story aside from allowing the demon to throw in some homophobic taunts. Overall felt like a cheap TV movie with some terrible CGI but talent far beyond what it deserved. Still, I watched this on a plane and it wasn't a bad way to kill 90 minutes of flight time.
