War movies from the ‘50s and ‘60s were often “Hollywood-ized” but this movie takes it to the next level. Almost every part of it is fake: the mission, the terrain, the climate, the characters, battle formations, even the deaths (actors miss their mark and fall down 5 seconds after the grenade goes off beside them), or the lack of deaths (characters surviving plane crashes or tank explosions). The absolute silliest thing of all is how the spying takes place, the epitome of which is Henry Fonda running up onto a German tank in battle, lifting up the hatch and having a little listen-roo. Thankfully the Germans are speaking in plain uncoded English and it happens to be the same German colonel he’s bumped into a couple times before because now he can correlate the German strategy by knowing where one officer has been. Pearl Harbour (2001) was twice as realistic as this movie, a movie itself was grossly unrealistic, though Pearl Harbour was at least set in a harbour. Avoid at all costs, and if you’re hankering for an old war movie, chose almost any other one! 3/10

A solid WW2 movie about the last try of Germany to beat back the allies. Although it simplifies too much the end of the battle, it is still a good depiction of this phase of the war.
