[IFFR '26] tells a transformative journey whose main reference is in its title, but the constant interplay of contrasts can be frustrating, juxtaposing the nuances of mysticism enveloped in dance and song with the incredulous gaze of two sisters reunited on the island of Gran Canaria after the death of their ex-alcoholic mother who ultimately embraced spirituality. Different forms of colonization coexist in this story of self-discovery, from the enduring presence of the caves where the ancestral inhabitants of the Canary Islands lived to the invasion of all-inclusive tourist resorts, but the protagonists' emotional journey never finds a harmonious balance.
