Man, what a disappointment that was! Instead of a coherent narrative or genuine character depth, the film devolves into a self-indulgent mess that is little more than Temu Wes Anderson.
I tried. I usually like to give movies the benefit of doubt and give them a good try before I turn them off. Sometimes there's a message in them or some kind of artistry I don't see until later in the movie, so I like to give them a chance. But, this was so boring and slow. There was also a lot of sexism and misogyny. Including but not limited to Charlie Sheen's character constantly picturing women naked, drawing women naked and talking about naked women. There's also a scene where the character is dressed as a cowboy watching women dressed in American Indian clothing, and riding horses naked wearing only headdresses which, to be honest I just didn't like at all. Part way through the movie I thought to myself "this has to be almost finished, right?" but when I checked there was still 50 minutes to go and I just couldn't do it. So, did not finish.
Has a few interesting scenes and cutaways, but is a low burn most of the way through. Probably worthwhile for some guys going thru mid-life crisis or trying to recollect themselves after a breakup. Good cast, but certainly underutilized, except fr Murray & Schwartzman. Winnick plays a solid opposite to Sheen.
