Fits well into the universe, but missed the horror part. Watched this in a crowded theatre, and I can confirm, The movie is good, you enjoy, the whole theatre was enjoying. However this is much more of an Adventure-Comedy than a horror-comedy. The real strength is how well it connects to the existing Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe (MHCU). This isn't just fan service, the cameos aren't just there as cameos, they are there for the storytelling. Every link feels earned and organic, proving this franchise truly has a plan. And the Bhaski Showdown was the maniacal highlight. Seriously, that sequence was peak cinematic fun. However, the film isn't without its stumbles. My main issue was the pacing, first half felt a bit long, and yeah, there were definitely a few jokes that also don't land sometimes. The set-up takes too much time, even if the second half pays it off brilliantly. Also the writing in the ending felt like low effort. Technically, it's brilliant. The music and colour grading works perfectly, the dark, kinda gritty colours fitted the tone. And the background score works perfectly. But I have to ask, I don't know why they marketed the movie with the item numbers when the movie had substantial things to show. The core of the film is a beautiful love story, and it deserved more emotional tracks. Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna were fantastic. Their chemistry works very well, and Rashmika, especially, shines as Tadaka. Unfortunately, the writing for Nawazuddin Siddiqui's character was a letdown. I felt he could've been better written and performed both. Overall, the movie has fun within it and you feel it. It successfully set up future projects very well, and despite its pacing and dialogue inconsistencies, it’s a necessary and nice addition to the universe. A good Diwali watch with friends and family.
Thamma is a light, entertaining horror-comedy film with notable performances and solid folklore-inspired storytelling but tempered by pacing issues and some uneven screenplay moments.
One time watch. It’s an average movie.
#thamma is creatively witty , engaging and fun parts worked well. Overall a good watch' . 3.5 ⭐/5
This one was quite a drab movie, even going to melodrama, something that the others from the same universe didn't go as much. While it attempted comic scenes, they didn't go well with the overall zone that the movie is set in. Barring the Bhediya cameo, it wasn't as exciting, and kept feeling like a Twilight rip-off. Looking forward to the jacked Bhediya in the next movie, though.
