Quite an oddly comforting movie. Great score and excellent displays from the two leads - Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs - are the main reasons for that. I’ve somewhat heard about the furore about the source material being supposedly faked/exaggerated, I did admittedly get some vibes of that whilst watching; could be confirmation bias, mind. Here in the UK, Sky TV have been heavily promoting their documentary about it. None of that, though, affects this here film, which is very good.
Decent movie but obviously tainted by the revelation the story is far from true: https://observer.co.uk/news/national/article/the-real-salt-path-how-the-couple-behind-a-bestseller-left-a-trail-of-debt-and-deceit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raynor_Winn Shouldn't detract from this but it obviously does alter ones opinion when a purported "based on true story" turns out to be far from that.
I'm a sucker for movies like this—where people restart their lives after feeling burned out by society. This was a great watch with beautiful scenery and landscapes throughout. If you enjoyed this film, I highly recommend Wild (2014) [https://trakt.tv/movies/wild-2014], which has a very similar vibe.
Just watched The Salt Path and was thoroughly captivated. Such a moving and inspiring story of resilience against the odds, beautifully brought to life on screen. It really makes you appreciate the power of nature and human spirit. Book now ordered.
Love it. Now I want to reread the books. Loved the vieuws beatyfull seasides
