For a movie with such a talented, capable cast, with several Oscar/Emmy winners, this is an embarrassment. I don't remember even smiling during the entire film.
Summer Camp 2024 is a feel-good movie perfect for a relaxed watch, especially if you enjoy reunion stories or have fond memories of summer camp. While it doesn’t break new ground, the charm of its leads and the nostalgic setting make it an enjoyable escape.
This was particularly disappointing. They gathered a great cast and gave them zero material to work with.
In what world does a summer camp arrange a reunion and THAT many elderly people have the time, energy and money to wanna go back… The only time I laughed, wasn’t even at a joke, it was when they gave Diane Keaton’s character a “sexy” makeover and she just looked like a rich librarian nun. The film isn’t great. It’s what you would expect when you look at that cheap artwork for it, but it can be a okay background viewing I guess
I saw this film with my mother who enjoyed it. I did too, overall. Just know what you're getting into: A light, cute movie for seniors. My only criticism is there's some slapstick attempted by Josh Peck and it doesn't hit like I think the filmmakers thought it would. There's also a certain camp counselor, Vick, who again was probably meant for comic relief but just falls flat and has one line that should have been left on the cutting room floor. But thankfully these two characters are not seen a ton and easy to overlook.
