The movie has this 90s vibe and reminds to british gangster movies from the 90s/2000s decades, but gets to short to its better raw models. Christoph Waltz plays again the cynical type and is carrying the movie on his shoulders, but the ensemble with the other cast members never gets the depth of characterization. Lucy Liu is underused and somehow her arc is tedious and pointless. The movie tries to be cool, but doesn‘t reach Guy Ritchie classics. For a comedy it‘s not funny, for an action movie it‘s too actionless and old-fashioned. Best in this movie is the soundtrack by Mono Town. Technically solid, but forgetable effort.

I believe that this movie is better than its average rating. Waltz is excellent as a kind of old age, out of time “John-Wick-in-the-Real-World” that suffers an end-life crisis. While the movie can at times not decide whether it wants to be realistic or comic-like, it is in general a good action movie with an often subtle humour. I believe that the fact that the “old guy” goes to visit his mother is just hilarious in the context of the movie. Well, you should watch and enjoy the characters, the acting and the action.

I really appreciate movies like this, a nice simple story expertly executed. It has a nice balance of common sense and plausibility. The action scenes were sufficient and based in reality. I feel like this is a story that could exist somewhere right now.

It's amazing that, after watching this film that I still have no idea what it was trying to do, what it was trying to achieve. I'm unsure as to whether it was a gangster movie, I love story, a mentor / mentee movie, I really don't know . The majority of the acting I think was fairly wooden and probably could have benefited from a better storyline or a better telling of the story . Bottom line is I think theres so much more right there that's better.

Old Guy (2024) - ❤x6 This is a mediocre contract killer being replaced by new younger blood kind of movie. We've seen this story before. Unfortunately there wasn't anything new here to make it special. How I rate: 1-3 ❤ = seriously! don't waste your time 4-6 ❤ = you may or may not enjoy this 7-8 ❤ = I expect you will like this too 9-10 ❤ = movies and TV shows I really love!
