1971: Während in Vietnam der Krieg tobt wird eine Gruppe junger Rekruten in Louisiana im sog. "Advanced Infantry Training" auf diese Hölle vorbereitet. Einer der Männer, der eigensinnige Roland Bozz, verabscheut die Idee des Krieges und während er sich gegen den militärischen Drill auflehnt, lernt er, was es heißt, Verantwortung zu übernehmen.

Not sure what the message of this movie is supposed to be, it gives off a bit conflicting signals. Still, it was nice to see all these great actors before they got huge. Feels like it's meant to be based on a true story but the fact that it isn't is a little underwhelming
