I found it interesting that the sequel actually _followed_ the original story, instead of trying to completely write a different angle. This one picks up right where the original left off, with the police squad and company entering the quarantined building to try and discover exactly what's going on...and the entire movie is built around the completion of the first film. That being said, this one was very hard to follow due to a combination (not just one or the other, but both combined) of being a foreign-language film coupled with the frenzied second half of the film. So much screaming, flailing around, running into each other, running from each other, screaming, cursing, camera movement, etc...it just made it very hard (for me) to follow. As a result, I confess that I had kind of lost interest by the time the conclusion came around, and when it did, it was so expected that it was anticlimactic. It's a decent zombie movie, but where I _might_ watch the original again, this one was just too "busy" to merit my attention a second time. It will scare you, and it's got some great scenes in it, and a pretty harrowing conclusion, but just be warned that there's a ton of screaming and craziness you have to wade through and the payoff, IMO, wasn't worth it.
Wow, seriously underrated at 66. This sequel explains how this all originated and adds depth to the story. The realism of the demonic zombies are way better than any other horror. In fact, the jump scares & the creepiness of the people moving around in the dark, not knowing what’s around the corner, through the door, up the stairs or in the attic and ventilator shafts, has never been bettered in any other film. Probably better than the first, 9.8/10.
Out of all the zombies in the media, the infected/possessed in REC are the best and most terrifying one’s ever. It surpasses 28 Days/Weeks zombies by a mile. There's no way of surviving the building of horror. I've seen YouTube videos about how to beat any scene in horror movies, but here, I don't think you can. The one scene where the SWAT guy gets corned by the infected, opening fire at random, and quickly locks himself in the bathroom. With his camera attached to his helmet and him positioned in front of a cabinet mirror, reflecting what's behind him, the sight of the infected breaking down the door was horrific. REC 2 is a solid sequel that takes the zombie genre in a new and different direction.
REALLY GOOD SEQUEL ONE OF THE BEST TIEING I'VE SEEN DO WITH A MOVIE, THEY REALLY STEPPED UP THE PLOT WITH THIS ONE. WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE SEEN THE BLOOD AND GORE BE STEPPED UP ASWEL, SLOWED DOWN IN PARTS A LITTLE FOR ME. BUT ALL IN ALL A GREAT HALF WAY POINT FOR THE QUADGILOGY. SAME AS THE 1st part 8/10
