This is a fun fun fun fun watch. Absolute blast. Clint Eastwood as a murderous celebrity cop. Jim Carrey as a strung out rock star. A real car/exploding remote control car chase. Liam Neeson as a horror director with a tiny ponytail. Cameos by Guns n Roses. It's completely ridiculous! Loved it.
The final installment of the “Dirty Harry” franchise is not exactly a highlight. Overall, however, it is at least decently directed, and with Jim Carrey and Liam Neeson, the cast includes actors who would go on to have great careers. However, the case about a “Dead Pool” is rather boring, and the antagonist is also the weakest in the series. As a whole, the movie is pure mediocrity; the iconic character deserved a more dignified farewell.
*insert Marvel/Ryan Reynolds joke here* 'The Dead Pool', whilst being the weakest of the 'Dirty Harry' films and feeling a little out of place, is still good fun in my opinion. Clint Eastwood is supreme once more and is joined by some standout names in Liam Neeson and, to my big surprise, a certain yet to be famous Canadian-born actor! This one features a very silly plot but it does make for mindless entertainment. I had a solid time with it, anyway. There is one ridiculous, yet amusing, car chase sequence. Due to that, and other parts, it kinda doesn't feel like it quite fits with the other releases, though that's not an issue in my eyes. Overall, it ends an enjoyable series well.
It's irrelevant whether this film made money a the box office or didn't... It was time to wrap up the series. Clint looks a little too old but times had moved on so he felt like a fossil. It'd have been nicer had it happened in a better film with less of an MTV-derived, try hard feel about it. But it is what it is... The series that started the angry cop genre finishes as a pastiche of the angry cop drama.
it's a little bit too caricatural, like
Harry killing the guy at the end wasn't necessary; it would've been better if he had just outsmarted him and let him live, especially since he fired all of his bullets
