This is an interesting movie in that some parts were absolutely atrocious and other parts were unbelievably amazing. Let me break it down: Amazing: Streisand. OMFG, she absolutely slays in this role. I can't say that I had ever seen her in something that I liked (e.g. none of the recent Fockers crap), and I already can't wait to watch another one with her. Good: Redford. It is a rather subdued role Redford and Streisand together. Sucky: Literally everything else. The first twenty minutes of the movie are an abomination. The discourse of politics, class, etc were all really mediocre. I get the sentiment and probably agree with most of it - it was just done so badly. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
Barbra Streisand Red Manicure "holding a cigarette and a drink" Acting deserves its own Oscar
It is an easy handkerchief melodrama.
Only good thing about it was the theme song. The politics were completely contrived and felt fraudulent. College communist goes around calling everyone a fascist. You'd think the Spanish civil war took place in upstate New York the way she carried on. But after a while the political nonsense took a backseat to a romance, which was even worse.
