The unit also navigates high-stakes cases ranging from airport emergencies to conspiracies in Officer Torres' old neighborhood, all while balancing heavy personal losses, including the passing of Adam Ruzek's father.

Chicago P.D. Season 13 proves again why this is my favorite One Chicago spinoff and still one of the strongest procedurals on TV. After the fallout from last season, the Intelligence Unit feels damaged, rebuilt and tested, which gives the season a sharper edge. Imani is a strong addition, and her storyline with her long-missing sister gives the finale, “Born or Made,” real emotional weight and a brutal darkness that fits Chicago P.D. perfectly. There are also great episodes across the season, from the early consequences of the team being broken apart, to Torres carrying guilt, Burgess being punished unfairly, Ruzek’s absence being felt, and Atwater getting a more personal direction with Tasha. The finale is tense, painful and morally messy, especially with Voight crossing another line in the way only Voight can. After 13 seasons, the show still knows how to mix action, character drama and ugly choices better than most procedurals. It is still the best of the franchise for me.
