The series is much, much better than the 2011 movie by the same name AND you don't have to suffer the incessant whistling.
Thrilling Action Adventure Drama. What drew me to this series was the casting of Mireille Enos of whom I've been a fan since THE KILLING and she does not disappoint. All three leads bring excellent performances with emotional depth. Esme Creed-Miles was a newcomer for me but, as the anchor of the show, she was magnificent. There is a real tenderness to the story (with incidental wit) that equally balance the action adventure. This is shot in beautiful European locations. It was a solid 9 (superb) out of 10 for me from the very beginning. I fully look forward to more seasons and I am going to track down and watch the movie by the same title with Saoirse Ronan. Loved Season 1, probably because it was so closely based on the hit film. However, season 2 didn’t live up to the previous season. I still enjoyed it, but the decline is enough to drop my rating by a couple of stars. Hopefully, season 3 will improve. Can’t fault the main actress who plays Hanna, she’s an excellent fit for the show and does as well as the original actress in the film.
It was a fun and engaging story that I greatly enjoyed. We essentially watched Hanna flourish and experience different phases of her life, being a "killing machine" along the way. In the end, the last episode gave her a fitting conclusion, allowing her to be free and make choices regarding her own life. I just have to praise Esme and the other cast members from Seasons 1-3 for their compelling performances. It was an awesome ride, and I hope to rewatch this show in the future.
I'm immensely disappointed. Hardly anything of relevance happened, **in eight episodes.** The majority of it, mostly everything in-between the first two episodes and the last two episodes, was filled with pointless crap having to do with a dysfunctional family and their nonsense, and dumb teen romance. And as if that wasn't enough, it was dragged out and out, for FAR too long. The pacing was horseshit. The plot, whatever it was, barely moved forward in its (the show) entirety. This was basically one long, needlessly dragged out, waste of time. Thank God I haven't watched the movie (yet), so I can always go and watch that for the first time to forget about this monstrosity. I have no doubt it'll be a million times better, at the **very least.** Now I'm starting to understand why I simply forgot about this show, forgot to continue watching it (until now), after watching the premiere when it was released early, earlier this year. I must've subconsciously known how utterly bland it was. At least it's out of the way now. I'll still watch the second season once it is released, but I'll have that hypothetical "bad taste" in my mouth from the first season. And I also hope it'll be significantly improved, although I won't hold my breath.
