The first 6 episodes of this season are extremely weak, but after you get past those, this is easily the best season up until this point. Prior to this season, I never felt excited or any sort of urge to keep watching this show. It was more something that I'd just watch for the sake of watching when I didn't have anything better to do. Towards the mid-end of this season was the first time since starting this show that I actually started looking forward to watching more, and I actually started going out of my way to keep watching, rather than only watching as a last resort. I hope this continues with the final few seasons.

I can't believe this season has some of the best arcs
(Darth Maul's return, Darkness on Umbara, I guess Slaves of the Republic is pretty good too)
but also some of the worst arcs
(I absolutely hated the entire Mon Calamari series, I basically slept through all of that, and the Crisis on Naboo storyline is okay but it does drag out)
. I liked how in season 4 we also see 4-episode arcs, it almost feels like I'm watching a full-length movie
and I do think that Slaves of the Republic would've made a great standalone film in the Clone Wars series.
The Clone Wars Seasons Ranked (list on my profile) --> https://trakt.tv/users/justinnumerick/lists/the-clone-wars-seasons-ranked?sort=rank,asc Season 4 Review: Not sure if I'm in the minority here, but I don't prefer this to season 3. While the third season was quite forgettable in the first half, the back half was full of really great arcs that were entertaining, added character depth, and expanded lore in interesting ways. Season 4 has some great standout moments as well, and while I think its production and pacing is the best in the series thus far, it had some arcs that I just didn't care for all that much. My favorite arc of the season, though, was the undercover Obi-Wan arc in episodes 15-18. I found that to just be a ton of fun with standout episodes like 'The Box,' and it did some subtly interesting things for Obi-Wan and Anakin. My next favorite arc is probably Maul's return in the final two episodes, because, like, how can I not love that? Beyond just my surface level enjoyment, though, they actually brought him back in an interesting way that I wouldn't have necessarily expected. And finally, in a close third place is the Krell arc in episodes 7-10, as I loved what it did for characters like Rex, Fives, and the clones in general, and Krell was a really effective character. I did also enjoy the episode on the Death Watch, but there wasn't a ton to grasp onto there other than a cool introduction to the group and some characters I know from other Star Wars projects. All of the rest of the season was average to below average for me. So again, like season 3, about half of the season I enjoyed and the other half wasn't my favorite. And I found the best parts of this season unable to match the best parts of season 3 for me. Still, this was a step up in production quality and story structure for sure. 6.2/10 -- Decent

Definitely the most consistently entertaining season so far, although it gets off to a terrible start with the Mon Calamari episodes. There's some astoundingly good stuff as the season continues, with the Umbara arc probably being the highlight of the entire show up to this point. The cringe worthy episodes are fewer and far between, characters are given some really compelling stuff to do. I think if you haven't fallen for the show by this point you never will, and while there are so many things I could criticise about it I think that this show is becoming essential for Star Wars fans. The action scenes can be overwhelming and cartoony, but they are always a visual treat. It can be throwaway entertainment, but it will surprise you more often than not and it's improving the prequels immensely.
