Magnificent Wings! My Name is Pell, Guardian Deity of the Country!
Vivi finds the bomb inside of the clock tower, but the Mr. 7 pair of Baroque Works are there to protect it. Vivi defeats them, but she realizes the bomb cannot be stopped so easily. It has a timer, and right before it blows up, Pell shows up and takes it into the atmosphere, where he sacrifices himself to save Alabasta.

Go Vivi, go!! Pell is such a wonderful and lovable character, as are most of the characters from Alabasta like Cobra, Igaram, and Chaka. Oda really knows how to create incredibly developed characters, even for one's, like Pell, who are secondary in the arc's importance. The moment of Vivi and Pell talking over each other is simple yet beautiful. Vivi's desperation and Pell's calmness. I've loved the gentle music box melody during Vivi's flashbacks. I love that bird-Pell smile too. :)
That was the longest 10 seconds in history... but in saying that, the symbolism behind the bird statue and Pell was pretty cool.
I just don't understand why he perhaps couldn't have just thrown the bomb high up to not get caught in the explosion instead of just standing there, talking to Vivi and wasting precious seconds...
Now I don't want this arc to end :/.
Awh that was kinda sad yk
