Season 1
Frank goes missing and turns up in Toronto, tries without success to embrace sobriety, and bends the law to protect his disability checks. Fiona falls for Steve, a handsome player with a nice car, a fat wallet, and a big secret. Ian embraces his sexuality, much to the chagrin of his brainy brother Lip. Debbie goes too far at a child's birthday party. Monica shows up with an announcement about baby Liam.
Pilot
Having her handbag stolen proves to be a blessing for Fiona when a handsome stranger named Steve comes to her rescue. Lip is shocked to discover Ian could be gay and decides his brother should pay a visit to the ever-accommodating Karen Jackson down the block. But the sudden arrival of her furious father Eddie ensures Ian's already-slim chances of happiness with Karen take a severe blow. Meanwhile, Steve buys Fiona a romantic gift, but for some reason she's less than impressed with it.
Frank the Plank
Drunk as a skunk, Frank has a run-in with Karen's father and returns home to take it out on Ian. The next day is Friday, and Frank is nowhere to be found, which is a bit odd since he never misses disability check day. The family starts a manhunt. .
Aunt Ginger
Fiona turns her attentions to Tony, a cop who has had a crush on her since childhood, but Steve isn't willing to give up without a fight; Ian is targeted by the brothers of a girl he spurned; the whole family searches for elderly Aunt Ginger, who owns their house.
Casey Casden
Debbie, sad and lonely after Aunt Ginger leaves, steals a little boy from a birthday party. In classic Gallagher style, the family hatches a plan to return the toddler safe and sound without attracting attention from the Chicago Police Department, who has made the kidnapping a top priority. Karen, in complete defiance of Eddie, starts to tease Frank sexually. Frank not knowing what to make of it keeps himself busy with booze, picking up Sheila's meds from the pharmacy and concentrating on finding the missing boy. What began as an innocent lie for Kevin to protect himself from a hot girl ultimately becomes a proposal of marriage for Veronica.
Three Boys
When the Gallagher's find out Veronica comes from a wealthy family, they try to scheme a fake wedding for the dowry. Meanwhile, Frank gets some bad news about his health.
Killer Carl
Fiona tries to prove the Gallagher home is suitable for rehabilitating a delinquent after receiving a letter from Carl's teacher; Lip gets busted taking the SAT for fellow students in exchange for cash; Kash and Ian are ashamed at their failure to stop a string of robberies at the Kash and Grab; Frank's poor business acumen continues to have negative consequences.
Frank Gallagher: Loving Husband, Devoted Father
Frank gets into trouble with two goons he owes money. Fiona asks Sheila to take care of Liam while she spends a night with Steve, and Ian tries to stop Mickey from bullying Kash.
It's Time to Kill the Turtle
Sheila fears to lose Frank when he gives up drinking. While Lip suspects their dad hasn't changed, Debbie and Carl enjoy having Frank back in their life. Meanwhile, Fiona tries to find a better paid job.
But at Last Came a Knock
Monica comes back when Frank needs her to sign documents and decides to take Liam with her. Meanwhile, Steve and Fiona move together.
Nana Gallagher Had an Affair
The children's paternity is put into question and Frank needs Carl's help.
Daddyz Girl
Tony comes closer to discovering what Steve is doing, while Fiona makes a new friend. In the meantime, Lip helps Ian look for his father.
Father Frank, Full of Grace
Steve tries to convince Fiona to skip town with him now that his true livelihood as been discovered; Frank and Karen's secret is revealed, forcing Frank to go into hiding; Fiona tries to figure out how to get Lip and Ian out of jail after their arrest for car theft.

Absolutely stellar show with amazing writing an acting from every single cast member, especially Emmy Rossum. It's incredibly difficult to balance comedy and drama and this show does it effortlessly. [spoiler]I knew Fiona wasn't going to leave, but **goddamn** did I want her to. That was heartbreaking.[/spoiler]
Hilarious! Finally gave Shameless a try on Netflix and instantly loved it!!! It is so harsh, dirty and shameless that I couldn't get enough of it. Nearly all the characters feel real, there is none of the typical Hollywood "glossiness", no artficial feeling to it. And while sometimes very asocial and selfish, you have to like most of the characters. Cant wait for the next seasons...
Incredible series, fell in love with the family since the pilot. One of the few instances where acting is great all around, but the writing is even better: hilarious but as touching as it gets, even in tiny, almost undetectable moments which can be caught just by a single expression. The thing that struck me the most tho, even more than the sense of community - was that of forgiveness, in the weirdest possible way. I'm used to think about it as a sort of hard to reach goal, something that has to be earned, forgiven but never truly forgotten. Seeing these people "unapologetically" flawed and getting mad but going on and beyond, keeping moving... dunno, I've hardly ever felt more at peace in seeing such things on screen. [spoiler] Lip's season finale completely encloses it. Was it right to forgive? Was it wrong? I'm no judge of that. But I know how I personally felt all the many times I've held a grudge and how it hurt me more than others, and how I've just as of lately experienced that sense of closure as that scene with them sitting outside. You can move on, without getting exhausted expecting more than others can reach or what yourself can achieve. There's freedom in that [/spoiler] [spoiler] A criticism I feel like making is that the second part of the season felt way too rushed. Karen's downfall, Kash&wife almost fading away, Jimmy's family secret, Ethel appearing and disappearing completely... It would have needed 2-3 episodes more to keep everyone around and better develop those parts. It feels like Fiona and especially Frank's storylines took much space at the beginning for several episodes (which was great to give them a well rounded persona), then you couldn't just forget about them so you have half the remaining episodes to be dedicated to them - and the remaining time to pull all the strings. Awesome first season. Finally gave this a try after being on my list for so long and loved it! Lots of laughs, fucked up humor, and drama. Can’t wait to see what future seasons unfolds.
