Turning _RoboCop_ into a childrens' cartoon series – the result is as bad as the idea sounds. Marvel created this cheap attempt to sell _RoboCop_-branded toy miniatures the year after the movie's release. Some character names and a cyborg vaguely resembling the original RoboCop are all that connect it to the original. I could forgive the cookie-cutter villains and forgettable plots for a Saturday morning cartoon, but apart from everything else, the writing is atrocious. You'd better love it when characters stammer, in a strained voice and incomplete sentences, what they're trying to do, because you'll get a lot of it. And while the film was brave enough to avoid any hint of a misplaced romance subplot, this series has… Officer Lewis taking RoboCop out for a candlelight dinner? Only a few episodes have storylines that aren't entirely terrible. _No News Is Good News_ was interesting in that it dealt with the topic of manipulative media and at least had a good narrative arc, and _Night of the Archer_ did well in tackling some issues with RoboCop's by-the-book law enforcement programming, although it fell apart by the end. I will also say that while I wasn't a big fan of the character design, the backgrounds are drawn very well and the show looks good. It also has a nice, seemingly original, synth-heavy soundtrack that I wouldn't mind an official release of. Not that there's much of a chance for that, because the show doesn't offer many reasons for people to fondly remember it.
