Japanese BL can be confusing for me sometimes—some are really good and others just leave me puzzled. This one falls somewhere in the middle, and I mean that in the best way. It’s an emotionally heavy series dealing with genuinely dark crime and yakuza themes, but there’s something raw and authentic about the way the story of the boss and his handler is told. The chemistry between Wada Masanari and Takahashi Hiroto is fantastic, and their ability to communicate with just their eyes makes every moment feel incredibly real. Their charisma and the undeniable intensity between them truly carries the show even when the plot stumbles. Despite being a bit rough around the edges, it’s a solid watch. The series does have some moments that just don’t work or feel jarring, particularly with the pacing and transition between its light and dark moments, which is really what keeps it from achieving a higher score. It was hard at times to keep up with the tonal shifts when it jumped from gritty crime to something lighter.
