An excellent adaptation of the first arcs of the series. It is faithful to the manga and it captures Takahashi's humor and the characters' idiosyncrasies very well. The little bits of filler added sparingly to the episodes are also well thought out and enrich the story. Thumbs up as well for the animation and the creative summaries at the beginning of most of the episodes. The OP and ED were also very well done and catchy. If I had to find a flaw in the series (but it is a tiny one) I'd say that the last episode of the skating arc (before Shampoo's intro) dragged a bit and that the ending of the last episode was a bit abrupt. Still, I'm very happy with how this first season turned out. Can't wait for season 2!

**Pros:** The Ranma 1/2 remake anime not only brings the anime up to modern standards but also improves upon the original in almost every way. Starting with the most obvious difference which is the quality of the animation. The animation of the original show was great at the time and still holds up well today, but if you compare it with the new one the difference is night and day. The new animation style has loads of flair and style and feels dynamic. It transitions to a more unique art style during some fight scenes which helps them stand out more. I especially enjoyed the way the animation was used to highlight jokes. Whether it was the expressions of the characters or a pause at the right time, it made the show quite a bit funnier than the original and I found myself laughing out loud every couple of episodes. You can also feel the higher budget with the new show due to changes that weren't strictly necessary but greatly appreciated. Such as the opening and ending being updated to match [spoiler]Akane's new hairstyle[/spoiler] and each episode having a unique recap of the premise of the show compared to the one that the original show had. The voice acting is also stellar. At first, I had to get used to the new VAs after being used to the old ones for so long, but that only took 2-3 episodes as the new cast feels very natural in their roles. This combined with the updated script made jokes land better as well. Especially when it was something that I wasn't expecting the characters to say. On top of the regular voice acting specific jokes used filters or a widely different vocal range, to make the voice stand out more and make the joke funnier than it would otherwise be. But the highlight of the remake for me is the new scenes they added. The new scenes expand on the relationships between the characters and it gives them more depth. These are especially used for Ranma's and Akane's relationship and are used to highlight how they do care for each other and also love each other to some degree as well. The old anime always backpedalled their development due to the large amount of filler in that show, so it's nice to see how the new anime sticks closer to the manga and strengthens their relationship instead. I'm very interested to see how later arcs will be adapted and improved upon. **Neutral:** The only part where the remake anime stumbles a bit compared to the original is the soundtrack. The soundtrack isn't quite as memorable, although to be fair the old soundtrack only had a couple of memorable tracks as well. The real problem I have with the soundtrack is that it's underutilized. Some scenes would've been more impactful if sad music was playing in the background, but instead, it was just silence. When the anime did decide to use sad music, however, it worked excellently to set the right mood for the scene. Despite the inconsistent use of the soundtrack, the opening and ending themes are just as good as ever. Especially Anta Nante which is the ending theme, is presented very thematically, which makes it easier to connect to it.

Season 2 Review Rating: 9/10 **Pros:** Season 2 of the Ranma 1/2 reboot continues to be as accurate to the manga as the first season. It adapts the beach part of the Full Body Cat's Tongue arc and the Martial Arts Takeout arc faithfully compared to the large changes made by the original anime adaptation. It even lifts most of the episode names directly from the manga chapters. The one aspect where the reboot makes changes is that it emphasizes Ranma's and Akane's relationship. It is the main relationship of the manga, but it was subtle at times, due to the slow burn nature of the relationship. The reboot spells out their love for each other in much more certain terms. I don't hate this because it is reinforcing the manga's viewpoint and a response to the actions taken by the original anime which gave Ranma's other suitors more validity than they got in the manga. This season didn't directly adapt arcs in chronological order like the first season did, but it had the goal of introducing the rest of the main cast and skipped a couple arcs to do so. This will allow the anime to start adapting later arcs not adapted by the original anime if they wish to. The season also placed focus on Shampoo and Mousse, adapting a lot of their arcs, which thematically brought the season together and gives it more of an identity. Skipping arcs this season isn't a problem either since we already know they will return to at least the Breaking Point arc by the end of season teaser. Speaking of that teaser, a small section of each ending showed a teaser for the next episode, which was a fun way to get excited for the next video after finishing an episode. The humor and voice acting are also just as great this time around. The funniest joke was [spoiler]when Mousse kidnapped Akane and she started beating the shit out of him. Each hit had a powerful sound effects and Akane's screaming[/spoiler] really sold the scene. **Neutral:** The ending and especially opening weren't as good as last seasons were but you can't expect every single one to be a banger and it's not like original anime didn't have its own share of bad opening and ending themes.

i haven't seen the original but this one was really good! looking forward to season 2 and will be watching the 80s one in the meantime
