A historical drama with no kings, no queens, no princes, eunuchs or court ladies. No old men vying for control over the court, and no fights over the throne. Instead, The Tale of Lady Ok was about the divide between social classes, boundless greed, dreams, struggle, perseverance, forgiveness and finding nobility in even the most downtrodden of people. It was visually stunning and fantastically acted. A law drama in a small-town setting (and its typical big cast of interconnected characters) with a bit of a star-crossed lovers trope thrown in. I liked it, but I wasn't crazy about it. I appreciated the fast pace, but there was always so much going on that by the time characters resurfaced after long absences I didn't remember anymore what had prompted their departure in the first place. And one of the main characters turning out to be nothing but a plot device was super disappointing, too. Still, it was a good watch with an interesting script and original setting. P.S. Aloe deserves a spot on the cast list! Never has a plant been so relevant and present in a drama LOL
