While the series is good, by the end it putts around and isn't quite sure what to do with itself, much like Concetta for most of the runtime.
Rating: 4.25* / 5* or 8.5 / 10 I really liked it and I feel like it should have gotten more points, but man, I have to be honest, I didn't understand what the hell the series was about until about the end of the 5th episode (there are 6). Cinematically, I really liked it, and once you understand what the story is about, everything becomes a little more obvious. Since it's based on a book, maybe there are things that are left out, and it might be easier to understand what the story is about. ***Spoiler Alert In short, the series is about the changes and transition that occurs with the unification of Italy. How a world based on nobility must either die or adapt to new political and social dynamics. How to maintain that lifestyle and power, they must start playing a game that is now accessible to everyone, and consequently, shameless and excessive actions become increasingly common.
To not Italian people: this is based on the Gattopardo but it isn’t it. Despite this, this show is nice. Great costumes, scenes, and photography. A big problem is given by the original acting voices cause they aren’t Sicilian. An example is given by Tancredi who speaks a mix between Sardinian and Padrino dialect (that nobody speak in Sicily). That’s sad cause there are a lot of good actors from Sicily so it would be more appropriate given the opportunity to them or just speak in Italian without any try to speak an invented language. Nice romance but nothing else. Not an Oscar interpretation
