It's not bad, but Vox Machina was way better. This one compared seems focusing a lot on woke nonsense: it stereotipyze controversial characters personalities and simplifies their traumas and relations. There's a lot of nonsense, something is too fast and something is too heavy instead. Technically, a great production, carachters aside. Pratically, just a cheap marketing experiment. It's almost emotionless compare to VM. Just watch it if you really want something that resembles Vox Machina. Watch VM before this. 6/10

It's a good show all things considered, but they lean too much (TOO FUCKING MUCH) in all the woke bullshit. All men are weak, all women are strong, the same stupid crap

Well well well... gotta say, coming from the same team that did, Vox Machina, I'd say I prefer this. It's more fantasy themed without the modern drama that Vox incorporated. Same style of animation and quality sound design, without the musicals, thank God. Sure it has a bit of the DEI stuff that is popular with writers today, but it's not overbearing or distracting. In a nutshell, it doesn't feel like it's trying to be anything other than a Tolkien style medieval themed fantasy of sword and magic with just a touch of modern sensibilities. Character design is perfect. Each has strengths and weaknesses that blend well together. There is a struggle to adapt to their shortcomings and work together. The comedy is low key and subtle. There is no plot armor or McGuffin's that constantly save the day. There is always the threat that any of them could die. I'm invested in their growth and survival. The villains aren't stereotypes and the political intrigue is nuanced and even at the end of the season, I'm not 100% sure who the "bad" guys are? It's vague enough that one could sympathize or at least comprehend the motivations as being flawed but patriotic. Hard to say, which is good, because it keeps you guessing. I especially like the pair bonding that develops among the group's characters. There are definite moments of tenderness and trust that builds, despite the mysteries still undisclosed of their origins. The plot is solid and not tedious. It strikes a nice tempo of world building, character backstory, and story advancement with enough cliff hangers to keep you engaged and invested in seeing what comes next. I appreciate the gradual exposition, instead of the lazy, all too common info dump or, worse, none at all. Again, it's a nice balance. This feels like a throwback to earlier tales of fantasy that focus on good story telling, not gimmicks. 9/10

so far season 1 and I love it! I see some comments about "wokeness" well, those people should focus on the review of the story, character development, animation & writing. We are simply in a transition to equality. Same happens with gay rights or even with women rights for example. It needs to be normal and not seen as something extra to be stigmatized. As long as you label it, whatever that is - you will rate it. It is far easier to just accept different people as they are. Your fault to be mad about. And to be fair there is something for everyone in here... One more thing: 1964 David Bowie & Students were mocked because they had long hair and even got interviewed for TV. Do you rate a show worse now because men have long hair in it?! Move on will ya?! Anyway... Germans should watch it in german dub imho. Since I guess we have a bit more experience with dubbing ;) There was no scene which felt dumb. The writing prioritizes character development and boy do I like the stories! Also I think there is much left for season 2 to develop even further. The characters are interesting, it looks great, the conversations are well written and it is way more serious than Vox Machina. Vox Machina was good too but this feels much more adult, serious and the world is more threatening.
