**Road Home — more like a road going in circles.** I expected a comforting romance with little drama, but instead it became repetitive and dull. The couple has chemistry, yet the relationship has no tension or emotional pull, so the story never truly moves forward. Sweet moments alone can’t carry 30 episodes. The drama also spends far too much time glorifying the SWAT lifestyle as noble sacrifice while barely addressing the emotional consequences on families and children. It keeps framing emotional absence and disappearing for duty as admirable instead of complicated. The side plots were equally frustrating. The forced pairing between the single dad and the FL’s office colleague felt awkward, especially since the man could barely manage his own life or child after his wife left. The constant teasing from coworkers was insensitive rather than funny. Another strange thing was how casually the show handled the alcoholic fathers. Their behaviour caused obvious damage, yet the drama neither explored the trauma properly nor gave meaningful redemption arcs — it just brushed everything aside and moved on as if years of dysfunction barely mattered. And where were all the parents during major life events? The absence of family during the FL’s childbirth and even the wedding made the emotional moments feel oddly hollow and unrealistic. For a drama so obsessed with “family” and devotion, the actual family dynamics felt underdeveloped and emotionally disconnected. Overall, the drama mistakes emotional stagnation for maturity. It may appeal to viewers who enjoy ultra-slow domestic romance, but for me it felt repetitive, emotionally shallow, and weirdly detached from the consequences of its own themes.
