Immensely beautiful and mindbogling. Nostalgic for everyone who loved Twin Peaks and David Lynch. Some places scary and horrific. A total experience - not like anything else out there.
I was a huge fan of the first two seasons but I haven't seen them in years. Not sure how much I'd like them now, as tastes change. This new season didn't excite me. Predictable in its unpredictability. It ticks all usual the boxes. Low range droning noises AKA that same old Lynch atmosphere. Check. Occasional cryptic dialogue delivered weirdly because then it somehow becomes and art style. Check. Long drawn out shots. Double check. Symbolism for the sake of it because that's always an indication of an intelligent director. Check. So that's the art crowd covered. Od uoy teg ti? T'nsi ti suineg? The thing I liked about the first two seasons was the silly soap opera mixed with darker tones (that were fresh back then), quirky characters, and even tacky tender moments ( with cheesy piano). It was even sexy. It had a storyline you could even follow. Now the soap opera I once found fun is replaced by a drawn out mess of a story that evokes absolutely no feeling. The returning charcaters don't sparkle on screen like they did. They're either dumber versions of themselves or pointless. The new characters are uninteresting and also pointless. Some of the acting is really bad. The community feeling, dark underbelly and atmosphere of Twin Peaks the place is gone. This didn't even feel like it has a setting. The dialogue is often stupid and doesn't reveal any character. It doesn't hold any weight or meaning. It''s sloooooooow. I'm not saying the original two series weren't a little pretentious and weird for the sake of it, but it had much more going for it. If you're into the formula of hype + wanting to be seen as getting it (gniwonk ruoy tihs) x weirdness = brilliant, then you'll have a ball. Twin Peaks season 3. Part of the trend of reviving old shows and movies for instant profit, because modern writing talent isn't as good anymore. Sadly, there is a massive audience for this.
Thefuck did I just watch,
I must have been tricked and downloaded wrong torrent, cause the Twin Peaks season 3 I watched, was one of the worst series I've ever seen. It's dumb, slow, incoherent and simply boring as hell. The paranormal side of the show was already a problem in season 2, replacing all what was good about the series, and 3rd just took it too far.
Review from letterboxd: God, this is worse than the second half of season 2.
