A lower Sonic, a lower human sidekick, a lower villain, a lower story line. It's like a direct to DVD Sonic Movies, and the Sonic franchise is not that strongh to begin with. Not good, But it's watchable.
Knuckles was cool since they did a good job with a animation and it's Idris Elba but would have preferred this to be a movie with the original human sidekick. Adam Pally feels like a cheaper version of James Marsden. The story was a bit stretched to make a show out of it, it would have been a damn good 90 min movie done right and cut out all the unnecessary story line. Watchable if you like Sonic but a lot of times too corny.
Apparently Wade was a pretty popular dude character in the previous movies but if you asked me with a gun to my head to name one standout funny thing he did I could not tell you. And I could not tell you a funny thing he did here. I’m sorry but Adam Pally gives me bargain bin Chris Pratt vibes. Maybe he shines in Happy Endings, but I haven’t seen it yet. I got my fill of Andy Dwyer in the 2010s. This is a show ostensibly about Knuckles but his arc stops after the first episode and is awkwardly shoehorned back in at the end. It repeats the sin of the first movie with too much damn human cops instead of the characters we care about, but even more. And that episode interlinking Jewish culture with law enforcement and military from the local cop to the FBI agent to ‘krav maga instructor’ sure isn’t great! And the sister is wildly obnoxious and not entertaining. I doubt this brushes much of anything between Sonic 2 and 3, and hope the third keeps the original human characters as far to the side as possible.
The series was generally okay. The story was solid. It's just that between the adults acting like children and abit of overacting, it kinda ruined it. It was okay and it was kinda cringe, but it was okay. I expected abit better, but it's passable. It also didn't help that I didn't like the story being focused on Wade. On second thought, could've been better.
Less of a “Knuckles” series, more of “The Lame Spin Off About Wade”. Funny apart from the horrendous overacting which ruined it. The VFX were great and Idris killed it as Knuckles. It’s just a pity the show focused more on Wade, to the point where one episode (of only six) barely had Knuckles in it at all.
