Season 1
Season one begins where the “Marvel's The Avengers” left off. It's just after the battle of New York, and now that the existence of superheroes and aliens has become public knowledge, the world is trying to come to grips with this new reality. Agent Phil Coulson is back in action and now has his eye on a mysterious group called The Rising Tide. In order to track this unseen, unknown enemy, he has assembled a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D.
Pilot
After the events of The Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson assembles a small team of agents to investigate a mysterious group called the Rising Tide. In doing so, they encounter Mike Peterson, a man who has acquired superhuman powers.
0-8-4
Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. agents travel to Peru to investigate an object of unknown origin, codenamed 0-8-4. But when he runs into Comandante Camilla Reyes, more than just sparks fly at 30,000 feet.
The Asset
When the brilliant scientist, Dr. Franklin Hall, is kidnapped, Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. agents must race against the clock to locate him. Skye is their only way in–pushing the team to their limits when the entire plan turns upside-down.

Agent Coulson and the S.H.I.E.L.D. team try to track down a mysterious woman who has single-handedly committed numerous high-stakes heists. But when the woman’s identity is revealed, a troubling secret stands to ruin Coulson.

The Hub

In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel's Thor: The Dark World, Coulson and the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces–one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team.

Coulson and his team are haunted by a ghost that threatens to destroy them all, and only a secret from May's past can save them.
The Bridge
In a shocking cliffhanger episode, Coulson takes the war back to Centipede, and this time he brings in Michael Peterson for some super-soldier support. As they get closer to the truth, startling secrets are revealed and an unexpected twist threatens the team.
The Magical Place
S.H.I.E.L.D. organizes a full scale hunt for Coulson. Meanwhile, Coulson uncovers vital information about the mystery of his death, but, with Centipede out for blood, this knowledge may come at the cost of one of the team!

This show is getting better after every episode love it.
I just recently finished season one. I´ll have to admit had I watched it at the original airdate I probably wouldn´t have made it past episode five. But since so many people said it would become better I continued. It looks cool, the action is good but althought beeing part of the MCU it felt more like watching Fringe or X-files most episodes. It is missing the real superheroes. Maybe it was never supposed to have them but after watching the movies it feels like that. From the main characters only Coulson is really great. His story, the mystery surrounding him, is what drives this show so far. I also liked Mae but the rest are weak. Skye is an arrogant I-know-it-better-typ and that kind of wunderkind has been overdone. Ward is the stereotype muscle. [spoiler] I disliked him even before he turned out to be a traitor. And that romantic arc between Skye and Ward was on the wall from episode one [/spoiler] And don´t get me started about Fitz/Simmons because they feel more like something from a Disney kids show. The scripts became better towards the end, more cohesive, but I also must say the villain(s) left a lot to be desired. It´s always the take-over-the-world type with little depth. That is my assessment after the first season. I haven´t yet watched the rest so please don´t spoil. Maybe some of the things I mentioned will change later on.
I wish I could rate the two halves seperatly. Early season one was a pretty big drag. Hard to get through. Nice moments here and there, bits of development, but an episodic nature that just didnt work. Once the plot started moving it got very good, crescendoing in Turn Turn Turn which is now up there for one of my favorite episodes of television. Stayed solid through after that, other than some serious missteps in the finale itself which ended up my lowest rated episode. I did what i usually do, I averaged my ratings of the episode and went with that for my overally rating for the season. But there are some serious weaknesses here.
Though it had virtually unlimited potential, _Agents of SHIELD_: Season 1 turned out to be a rather formulaic action series. With Joss Whedon helming the show the stars seemed to be aligned for greatness, but it utterly failed to capitalize on the Marvel Cinematic Universe at its fingertips. The writing is particularly poor, as SHIELD changes to be whatever is needed for each particular episode, and the characters play to stereotypes. Most of the episodes are one-off adventures that follow Agent Coulson and his special ops team. However, the season is shaken out of its rut by _Captain America: The Winter Soldier_; which forces the series into taking on serial story arcs with some substance. It’s not that the show is all that bad, it’s just that it aims so low and seems to avoid integrating the Marvel films as much as possible. There’s fun and adventure to be had in Season 1 of _Agents of SHIELD_, but it could've been so much more if it'd tried.
