Sean Ryan King

Sean Ryan King (born May 4, 2006) is a Peruvian-American film director, writer, and producer best known for directing the critically acclaimed psychological drama Wailing Shells (2026), which earned him the Academy Award for Best Director at the age of 20. Recognized for his atmospheric visual style and emotionally resonant storytelling, King quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young filmmakers of his generation.

Born in the United States to a Peruvian-American family, King developed a passion for filmmaking at an early age, experimenting with cameras, editing software, and short-form storytelling throughout his childhood. His breakthrough came with Wailing Shells, a haunting and ambitious feature film praised for its direction, performances, and immersive world-building.
