A mediocre TV movie at best. There is an Alex Rider TV series that came out this year (2020) that is much better - if you get the chance watch that instead. This must be the B Grade pantomime version of Alex Rider. Terrible accent, can't understand his mumblings. Stopped watching within half-hour.

Alex Pettyfer as the 14-year-old spy recruited by MI6 has his charm, and the supporting cast is absurdly good for what the movie is: Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy, Mickey Rourke, Andy Serkis... All cashing their checks and going home. Entertaining if you're 12 or nostalgic for being 12. I watched it at school back in the day and thought it was cool, but now you can see it's pretty weak.

It's technically a kids' movie, so it's not going to be spectacular or like an adult thriller. A couple places it's downright corny. But as kids films go, it's amusing enough parents won't be bored. 6/10.

It is, called "Alex Rider" (2020) on Amazon Prime. A good family spy movie. It is also based on a series of spy novels by British author Anthony Horowitz about a teenage spy named Alex Rider.
