The definition of style over substance. Marlon Wayans gives a great performance though

"I can see how for a normal person, this would be off-putting." Not even a sports fan but I thought this was pretty epic. Yeah it can be over the top at times, but if you get on its wavelength, it's just the right kind of insane. Embarrassed to admit it took me most of the way through to realize the staples on his head look like the stitches on a football. GOAT is a way better title.

Surprised by all the “incoherent story” comments. This plays on both a literal and satirical level without requiring much imagination to bridge gaps. A kid raised to idolize violence, pain, and sacrifice as the pinnacle of manhood eventually reaches the logical conclusion of those teachings. The survivors of that cycle reinforce the system not out of malice, but as a way to give meaning to their own suffering. It’s what worked for them. It’s how they were raised. The Biblical imagery (which the poster isn’t exactly subtle about) frames Cam as a potential cycle-breaker, someone who might finally deliver us from CTEvil. There are obvious jabs at the NFL throughout, but football itself isn’t really the boogeyman here. It feels more like a stand-in for any zero-sum hierarchy where careers are nasty, brutish, and short. My one real qualm, beyond the clumsy “I AM FOOTBALL” line, is the ending’s reliance on spectacle. The resolution feels intentionally over the top, as if the filmmakers couldn’t imagine dismantling a system like this without escalating to operatic violence. But maybe that’s the point; maybe tearing down long-standing social structures was never going to be clean or polite. Ultimately it's an entertaining film with great performances that left me thinking, and that's more than enough to be worth a stream this weekend.

Entertaining if uneven with some body horror and observations about the pressure put on men to conform to a specific masculinity that does not acknowledge pain. Wild visuals, allusions to Christ, some humor, and characterizations that are disturbing. Marlon Wayans keeps us off balance while Tyriq Withers carries the film well
